About this Artwork
The 6809 was the third generation of the Motorola 6800 family. Although the 6809 was source compatible with the 8-bit 6800, it added some interesting 16-bit capabilities, reduced the number of instructions, and had 10 different addressing modes. The 6809 also had the first implementation of hardware multiplication in a microprocessor. And, the 6809 had very fast memory access times. It was one of the most powerful 8-bit processors ever made. Not surprisingly, the 6809 was used in a number of arcade games and home game consoles. Unlike its predecessors, the 6809 found its way into many personal computers, including the Commodore Super-Pet and the Tandy Radio Shack TRS-80 CoCo.
The artwork includes a functional, genuine Motorola MC6809 chip.
