This artwork is a mixed media display featuring the AMD Athlon XP. This artwork contains an actual AMD Athlon XP. 

Until the Althon, AMD was viewed as an also-ran in the microprocessor industry. Although AMD had some success with its own microprocessor designs, AMD's brand recognition was as a low-cost second source supplier of Intel microprocessors. With the Athlon, AMD beat Intel to the 7th generation of the x86 architecture, with a superior product. The Athlon's speed and innovative performance features, caused the industry to question Intel's leadership. Intel had to acknowledge the threat that AMD posed and began to change technology and marketing directions to respond.
