About the Jewelry

This pendant is made from a 1988 MIPS R3010 coprocessor silicon wafer fragment. The MIPS R3000/R3010 microprocessor/coprocessor set was introduced in 1988. This 32-bit RISC chipset was widely used in early workstations and gaming consoles. It offered a clock speed of 20 MHz, supported up to 4 GB of memory, and had a simple and efficient instruction set architecture, contributing to the development of the MIPS architecture. Performance Semiconductor made the silicon wafer, and the wafer fragment has about 16 processor chips. The original wafer was 6” in diameter.

The ChipScape image of the R3000 chip contains the chip's art with MIPS' copyright information and part of the processing logic.

Included in the resealable bag:

The two-inch x 1/2 inch silver-plated pendant (since these are handmade, yours may look slightly different than the one pictured here, but satisfaction is guaranteed), a 24" silver-plated necklace, a ChipScape of a small part of the chip, and a ChipScapes card that gives information about this jewelry (see picture).
