About this Artwork

This artwork is a mixed media display celebrating the Intel 4002. The working memory of an Intel 4004 system was provided by the Intel 4002 RAM (Random Access  Memory). The 4002 had 320 bits of memory. It was organized as 4 registers of twenty 4-bit characters. The  4004 allowed for four banks of two 4002-1s and two 4002-2s. Only one bank could be addressed at a time. Each bank had  1,280 bits available for a total system of 5,120 bits. In addition to its storage functions, the Intel 4002 had control logic to provide communications for the 4004 with other peripheral devices through 4 I/O  lines. 

This artwork includes 3 major items. It has a large image of an Intel 4002 chip. On the back are the artist’s signature and a narrative describing the artwork and the 4002. The artwork includes an Intel 4002 chip.

    Framing: 

    The artwork is framed in an 11"x14" black shadow box frame, with glass. All framing materials are acid-free. A narrative about the artwork that includes the artist’s signature is placed on the back of the artwork.
