About These Ornaments This is number 2 of 12 sets of ornaments that I offer. There are three ornaments in each set. This set highlights a chip packaging technology called Flip Chips. On each of these ornaments is a shiny rectangle, which is the computer chip. These chips are mounted face down. Tiny balls of solder placed on the chip are melted to connect to their package. This greatly increased the reliability of chips, and the maker could use the back to engrave their logos and names, plus they look really cool! |

This set includes: - The ornament with the red ribbon is an AMD Athlon microprocessor. - The ornament with the green ribbon is an S3 460 Gamma-Chrome Graphics chip. - The ornament with the blue ribbon is an IBM PowerPC 601 microprocessor used in Apple Macs. |

What's in the Box? First things first, the box itself is made with recycled craft paper with the ChipScapes name on the top. The box is sealed with a gold elastic tie, ready to be given as a gift! First in the box is an information card about making chips and ChipScapes, hand signed by the artist. Next, you will find a credit card sized Fresnel 3X magnifying glass to observe your ornaments closely. Then each ornament is individually packaged in a resealable bag with a card to protect the ornament. The backstory and technology of each ornament is included in the bag (facing the back). It also has a picture of the ornament, so you can put the ornament back in the right bag. Also, in the bag is a piece of anti-tarnish paper to keep your silver ornament fresh when it’s in storage. |

About ChipScapes Ornaments ChipScapes ornaments are designed for people who celebrate technology, specifically computer technology. These are unique pieces of art made from recycled vintage computer chips and technology. These ornaments are unique original pieces of art based on computer chips and computer technology. These silver-plated snowflakes are about 2" in diameter with the center about 1" in diameter. These ornaments sometimes use upcycled old electronic parts, sometimes ChipScapes artwork, and sometimes both. Because these ornaments are handmade from electronic parts, there may be small variations from the pictures in the listing. This creates a slight uniqueness of each ornament. The ornament designs borrow from Steam Punk, CyberPunk, and Art Deco styles. ChipScapes are about the creative process and sharing the beauty in technology. |
