Custom R3000 for Cody
About the Jewelry
This pendant is made from a 1988 MIPS R3000 microprocessor silicon wafer fragment. The MIPS R3000 microprocessor, introduced in 1988, was a 32-bit RISC chip widely used in early workstations and gaming consoles. It offered a clock speed of 20MHz, supported up to 4 GB of memory, and had a simple and efficient instruction set architecture, contributing to the development of the MIPS architecture. Performance Semiconductor made the silicon wafer, and the wafer fragment has about 16 microprocessor chips on it. The original wafer was 6” in diameter.
The ChipScape image of the R3000 chip contains the chip's art with MIPS' copyright information and part of the processing logic.
