About the Earrings

Be ready for the great election year of 2020 with your own hanging chad earrings! These come from IBM 80 column punch cards, possibly from Florida voting cards. The holes on the card represent letters, numbers, and... maybe votes to be input to a computer. These holes could be made by a keypunch machine, or a voting machine. The small rectangle punched out of the card is called a chad. If the chad is not completely separated from the card, it just hangs there. You may have heard about hanging chads from the 2000 election. So, why are these completely punched chads hanging chads? Well, they’re hanging from your ears, see what I did there?

Definitely a conversation starter!

The earrings (since these are handmade yours may look slightly different than the one pictured here, but satisfaction is guaranteed), and a ChipScapes card that gives information about this jewelry.
