About my Transistor Silicon Wafers artworks
These artworks highlight silicon wafers that have computer chips that have single transistors. These were the first kind of silicon wafers. Planar transistors were the first semiconductor device to be fabricated on silicon wafers. Each square on these wafers is a single transistor. In the same physical area, today's chips have millions of transistors. Generally, the smaller wafers are older technology.
